Last Will and Testament of William Thomas, Decd

In the name of God Amen

I William Thomas of the County of Attala and state of Mississippi being of sound mind memory and understanding do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in form following to wit: I give my body to the dust and my soul to God who gave it my property or wordly estate I dispose of as follows:

Item 1st To my wife Mary Jane I will the sum of Ten dollars ($10.00) to be paid by my Executor out of the proceeds of the sale of my personal property.

2d To my son John Millard I will the place or plantation on which he now resides and numbered as follows: E1/2 of SE 1/4 of Township Sixteen Section Thirty two Range Six lying in Attala County state of Miss.

3d To my oldest daughter S. A. Butler I will the land numbered as follows: W 1/2 of SW 1/4 Section Sixteen Township Sixteen Range Six lying in Attala County state of Mississippi.

4th To my daughter Sammie Jane and Carrie Isabella I will jointly the following land lying and being in Attala County and state of Mississippi to wit: The land as described in certain Deed of Conveyance made by one J. J. Williams to Wm Thomas and date of the 13th day of Sept AD 1871 calling for sixty acres more or less. Also the E 1/2 of NE 1/4 Sect 5 T15 R6 East.

5th To my child by my wife Mary Jane its name being unknown to me I will the sum of Five dollars ($5.00) to be paid by my Executor out of the proceeds of the sale of my personal property and undivided real estate.

6th To my sister Anna Mothershed I will the following land lying and being in Attala County state of Mississippi to wit: E 1/2 of NW 1/4 of Sect 5 T 15 R6

7th The remaining part of my real Estate and all my personal property I will that my Executor take legal proceedings to dispose of by public sale and with the proceeds pay all lawful claims against by estate and the over plus if any I wish divided among my children pro rata.

8th Hearby appoint my friend J. Rollover of Holmes County state of Mississippi Executor of this my last will and testament.

W. M. Thomas (Seal)  signed sealed published and declared in the presence of the Testator and in the presence of each other who at the request of the Testator signed the same as witnesses thereto this the 6th day of Nov AD 1881.

It is my dying request that I in the present of the undersigned witnesses that I do hearby make a change in my Executor by putting my brother T. S. Thomas as Executor instead of my friend J. Rollover of Holmes County state of Mississippi this my last will & Testament.
