Mrs. Mamie Morgan Carnes Obituary
Newspaper Not Known:
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Morgan, born June 12th, 1880, married to Mr. C. E. Carnes July 2nd 1899, and died Sept. 3rd, 1900. Mrs. Mamie Morgan Carnes.
Such briefly is the history of Mrs. Mamie Morgan Carnes, but it would be impossible to give her full history as to her inner life, her character, her home and social influence for this world, involve an unfolding of the future, since it was such as to live with time in the lives of those with whom she was associated. Modest, gentle, retiring, yet potent in all these characteristics for good, she still lives and will continue to live to fashion the lives of others as ornaments to society and Christianity. As a true wife, a dutiful daughter, a loving sister and a faithful friend, her death deeply mourned by a devoted husband, father, mother, brothers, sisters, and friends, limited only by her acquaintances. At the happiest period of every true mother's life she was taken from among us, but why, we in our finite minds, cannot understand. A little one, only a few hours old at her death is left to the care of others, never to know the real meaning of the tenderest and sweetest of words, Mother. May God in his infinite mercy and providence so direct the nature and training of the little one by those into whose loving hands he has fallen, that he may grow into useful manhood and after the battles of life go home to his mother wearing the laurels of the victor and know through all eternity the love of her that gave him birth.
Miss Mamie was a consistent member of the Baptist church and by her life demonstrated the power the Christian religion to overcome the evil of this world. To those who are left to mourn her death, this writer, whose pleasure it was to know her, can sincerely say, follow her life as she followed her Savior's and some day there will be a blissful meeting.
On the happy golden shore.
Where the faithful part no more.
