The Brister Cemetery is located in the northwestern part of Attala County. North on highway 35 from Kosciusko, turn left (west) at Hesterville. The cemetery is just off Highway 440.

According to Dennis Boswell the Brister Cemetery was originally established as a Brister family cemetery by Edmond Brister on his property. At some subsequent point in time it became a public cemetery. Dennis indicates that the cemetery dates back to about the 1845-1847 time frame. Edmond Brister's first wife, Matilda Holland (Norman) Brister passed away in 1847 and is buried in the cemetery. Edmond and Matilda's 8th child was born and died in 1845 and is believed to rest in the cemetery in a grave under an unmarked stone next to Matilda.
