The Bear Creek Baptist Church is located in the northeastern part of the county. Turn left (north) off Highway 12 just after the McCool turn off. Church and cemetery are just a short distance off highway on a gravel road. The church is on the left side and the cemetery is directly across the road.

Bear Creek Baptist Church is one of the oldest churches in Attala County having been chartered in 1851. The church was originally organized as the Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Church in September 1851 by Henry Fancher and his wife, Alfred Johnson and wife, Petty Dotson and wife, William Dotson, Mason Dotson, Sarah Dotson, Elmira Dotson, Johnson Fancher and wife, Jeff Harrison and wife, Mrs. Martha Smith, Julian Smith, a Mr. Bennett and wife and John Parish and wife.

Austin Greene Steward, an early Attala County settler donated seven acres of land which was deeded to the church for the church and cemetery. About two acres are being used as a cemetery.

The first three photographs of the church and cemetery entrance were taken by Jeff Langford of Attala County, Mississippi in August 2004. Jeff and his wife are members of the church and Jeff teaches 'children's church' every Sunday. Additional photographs of the Bear Creek Cemetery can be viewed by clicking on the link found below:
